MELBOURNE, FL/LAS VEGAS, February 22, 2012 (IWCE, Booth #5025) — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has introduced its XG-25™ portable radio for public safety and mission-critical radio users. The XG-25 operates in VHF Project 25 (P25) conventional and analog modes, and in both narrowband and wideband frequencies.

"The Harris XG-25 portable radio is an economical solution that allows users to meet the fast approaching FCC narrowbanding mandate without sacrificing the functionality and dependability that is expected of a Harris radio," said Steve Marschilok, president, Harris Public Safety and Professional Communications. The rugged XG-25 radio provides mission-critical users with improved audio quality, Bluetooth® wireless connectivity, a large, easy-to-read screen and a lightweight design. The XG-25 in the VHF band split (136-174 MHz) will begin shipping in May 2012 with a complete complement of accessories suited to meet a wide variety of mission-critical users' needs and requirements. It is a P25 Phase 2-ready radio.

The XG-25 radio is capable of operating on the most advanced P25 conventional systems, including voted and linear simulcast systems. The radio also offers a rich P25 conventional feature set, which includes group, individual and emergency call capabilities, packet data, Over-the-Air-Programming (OTAP), status message and GPS. In analog mode, the XG-25 supports traditional signaling protocols such as GE Star© and MDC1200.
