AMSTERDAM, September 14, 2001 - Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) is demonstrating a newsroom automation solution at IBC 2001 that enables the newsroom to take full control of the production and play-out of news programming. An extension of Harris Automation Solutions' industry-standard play-out system, Harris' news automation solution provides the speed and efficiency that are essential in today's fiercely competitive news environment.
Called Air News, Harris' solution works with any MOS-compliant newsroom computer system, allowing stations to streamline the news operation by integrating the newsroom computer with the station's automation system. Air News allows news editors to control around-the-clock news play-out or a live newsbreak directly from the newsroom by establishing a two-way communication path between the newsroom computer and the automation system.
Air News acts as an intelligent hub that:
Air News conserves precious server space by providing low-resolution editing through its enhanced browser, Media Edit, which allows journalists to create an EDL in all formats and then consolidate it into a high-resolution file in post-production/online editing. Harris' Scavenger option ensures that the newly edited piece goes to the browse server for perfect mirroring of the production video storage.
