MELBOURNE, FL/ROCHESTER, NY, April 2, 2012 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has received a $49 million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to provide Harris Unity^® land mobile radios for the U.S. Marine Corps' Enterprise Land Mobile Radio program. The five-year E-LMR contract enables the Marine Corps to acquire Unity XG-100P and Unity XG-100M Full-Spectrum Multiband Radios for use by first-responders — such as military police, fire departments and emergency medical services — at Marine facilities worldwide.

The full spectrum frequency coverage of the Unity product family allows a single radio to cover all of the LMR bands used by the Marine Corps and public safety communities. These new capabilities build on the company's existing relationship as the largest provider of tactical communications to the Marine Corps.

"The new contract means the Marines can trust the same robust assured communication technology, on-base or off."

The E-LMR contract was awarded after a competitive procurement that included some of the most demanding requirements anywhere in the land mobile radio industry. "Harris' Unity products delivered the reliability, advanced features and assured interoperability demanded by the Marines," Marschilok said.

Unity radios provide users with true interoperable communications in handheld and mobile form factors-whether they are handling day-to-day tasks or coordinating large-scale, emergency responses. And, in noisy emergency situations, the Unity's noise-suppression technology delivers clear voice quality, which is achieved with advanced signal processing for both analog and digital communications.

The Unity XG-100 product family supports APCO P25 Trunking, P25 Conventional and analog FM modes of operation, while providing the ability to scan continuously across all bands, voice modes, and encryption types. The Unity XG-100 family operates across other manufacturers' P25 systems regardless of frequency band or mode of operation: P25 Conventional or P25 Trunking. Designed to deliver interoperable communications for Federal, state, or local public safety agencies, the Unity XG-100 family covers the VHF band, UHF band, and 700/800 MHz bands in a single radio.
