Harris Corporation Unveils First-Ever Automated Network Communications Package for Business Enterprise Customers

MELBOURNE, Fla., June 6, 2001 - Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a leading supplier of telecommunications network management solutions - along with team members MetaSolv Software, Inc. and Telesoft - today introduced the first fully automated communications and cost accounting system specifically designed for the business enterprise customer. The new Enterprise Solution will help businesses to reduce costs by efficiently managing their voice and data operations while confirming the accuracy of service provider billing and circuit reconciliation.

The Enterprise Solution seamlessly blends Harris’ proven NetBoss™ communications management platform with MetaSolv’s MetaSolv Solution™ OSS (Operational Support System) and Telesoft’s TelMaster™ software. The combined offering features a highly scalable and flexible management system capable of addressing an enterprise’s voice and data network management.

“Enterprise customers today have very complex, changing communications networks, with varied equipment, protocols and services,” said Frank Bourne, vice president of marketing and technology for Harris Corporation’s Network Support Division. “This is the first solution that allows enterprise customers to proactively manage the costly issues associated with enterprise communications while simultaneously improving quality and timeliness of services.”

Operational costs are further reduced through the system’s ability to automatically add, change, and delete communications services through a single point of entry. For example, customers using the Enterprise Solution can easily activate telephone, cell phone, pager and e-mail services for a new employee with a single order. In addition, the system automatically analyzes an employee’s cell phone usage to determine if the most cost-effective service plan is being utilized. By automating all functions, the Enterprise Solution also reduces costly errors resulting from manual data input.

Features of the integrated Enterprise Solution include: order management, network inventory, workflow, trouble management, service activation, electronic bonding, enterprise application integration, billing mediation, billing, account management, and circuit reconciliation. “Efficiently managing communications capacity is a key factor in reducing communications operating budgets,” said Bourne. “We believe that the typical enterprise customer will be able to significantly reduce costs using the Enterprise Solution.”
