Harris Corporation Unveils New True-Color, Full-Earth Imagery Product for Visual Simulation and Training Applications

ORLANDO, Florida, November 28, 2005 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a leading provider of imagery solutions for the visualization and simulation markets, today introduced 15-meter Global Dataset, an advanced new imagery product that provides 15-meter, true-color mosaics covering the entire earth. The announcement was made today during the Inter-service/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC '05) (Harris booth #2129) being held November 28 through December 1 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

"This is the highest-quality, 15-meter product available today and the only one designed specifically with the visual simulation and training industry in mind," said Russ Haney, president of the National Programs business unit of Harris Corporation's Government Communications Systems Division. "We are very excited to be able to provide this to our customers and to offer licensing options that meet the unique needs of businesses focused on government programs and systems integration. This worldwide 15-meter product acts as a palette with which additional, higher-resolution areas can be integrated to create true-color, multi-resolution imagery databases for vis-sim applications

The imagery available through 15-meter Global Dataset includes advanced tonal balancing in realistic earth colors, resulting in true-life visual scenarios. This creates an enhanced simulation experience in critical applications such as aircrew combat training. 15-meter Global Dataset products are available for immediate delivery in regional or full-earth formats.

"The 15-meter Global Dataset produces gorgeous imagery that is perfect for our visualization applications at Microsoft Virtual Earth," said Tom Barclay, senior researcher for the Microsoft Virtual Earth project. "We are excited about the positive response that we have received from our users thus far."

15-meter Global Dataset is the newest member of the TrueTerrain™ product family developed by Harris' ImageLinks product line. TrueTerrain products are created using proprietary technology that merges and mosaics multi-source, multi-resolution satellite and aerial imagery, from 3 inches to 100 meters, with digital elevation data. These realistic, geo-specific 3-D terrain datasets are orthorectified, seamlessly co-registered, tonally balanced, and blended and feathered into a single mosaic.
