Harris Press Release

Harris Corporation Computer Security Tool Now Includes Department of Homeland Security Vulnerabilities List

STAT® Scanner First In Industry To Scan For FedCIRC Vulnerabilities

MELBOURNE, Florida, February 19, 2003 – Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a leading provider of computer security solutions for more than 25 years, is the first company in the industry to add the list of computer vulnerabilities published by the Federal Computer Incident Response Center (FedCIRC) to its vulnerability assessment tool.

The recently released STAT® Scanner version 5.08 scans for all the Windows®, Solaris™ and RedHat™/Mandrake™ Linux® IT vulnerabilities in the FedCIRC vulnerability catalog. In addition to the FedCIRC list, STAT Scanner searches for vulnerabilities from several other sources, including the MITRE Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) list, the SANS/FBI Top 20 vulnerabilities list, the CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) list, and the Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) issued by the Department of Defense (DoD) and all the military branches.

The FedCIRC, which is being incorporated into the Department of Homeland Security, is the central coordination and analysis facility dealing with computer security-related issues affecting the civilian agencies and departments of the federal government. FedCIRC's incident response and advisory activities bring together elements of the DoD, law enforcement, the intelligence community, academia, and computer security specialists from federal civilian agencies and departments. FedCIRC advisories can be found at www.fedcirc.gov.

STAT Scanner is the first and only vulnerability assessment scanner currently undergoing Common Criteria evaluation and will soon be certified by a Common Criteria Evaluation Lab, a critical requirement for U.S. government purchase of information security products that went into effect last year. Once STAT Scanner is certified, it will be the first tool of its kind in the industry approved for purchase for use in national security systems.

STAT Scanner searches for vulnerabilities in Windows NT®, Windows® 95/98/Me/2000/XP, Linux® and UNIX® operating platforms, assessing thousands of network security vulnerabilities and automatically repairing/remediating many of them.

Harris STAT® (Security Threat Avoidance Technology), a Microsoft® Gold Certified Partner, provides network security software products backed by decades of expertise in information security. STAT offers the most trusted solutions in the industry for the proactive protection of information and computer systems from hackers, viruses, and other threats.
