Census Information Systems

Applying decades of experience in systems engineering, information and data processing, systems integration, and production operations for mission critical systems, Harris assisted the U.S. Census Bureau in modernized two key census databases containing 175 million addresses for all U.S. businesses and residences, and a database that links U.S. streets, rivers, railroads and other geographic features to GPS coordinates. Harris also developed a wireless handheld computer that put the latest secure wireless and GPS technologies into the hands of 140,000 census takers supporting the 2010 U.S. Census.
