Corporate Responsibility

The Harris Foundation

The Harris Foundation plays a primary role in Harris Corporation's philanthropic activities in our commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen. While each of our offices and facilities worldwide supports local efforts in their individual communities, the Harris Foundation provides funding from a corporate perspective.

The Harris Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees elected and appointed to serve three-year terms. Our primary philanthropic platform is quality education in the areas of science, math, engineering and technology (STEM). Our funding priorities are STEM, charitable organizations that align with our mission critical customers and some local civic, cultural and health/welfare organizations.

The Harris Foundation has decided to move away from sponsoring events. Support from the Harris Foundation is provided to organizations through our employee gift matching program and direct contributions. On an annual basis, our Trustees review proposals for support for funding during our next fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). For more information, please see the sections on Contributions and Gift Matching.

The Harris Foundation can inform employees about upcoming community events by posting a flier to our internal community opportunities website. This site provides a central location for Harris employees to view information about upcoming volunteer opportunities and advertisements for a variety of community events. An organization can email a copy ready event flier with its organization’s contact information and web link to Harris.Foundation@harris.com.

Gift Matching

The Harris Foundation offers employees two gift matching programs to support their contributions to qualified educational institutions and approved community organizations. These programs allow employees to multiply their contributions, providing organizations with additional funding.

Harris Aid-to-Education Gift Matching Program

The Aid-to-Education Gift Matching Program was established to broaden financial support of educational institutions and particularly encourage employees to contribute to the colleges and universities in which they or their families have an interest, and which they feel are worthy of support. Accredited higher education institutions that grant degrees and two-year colleges whose credits are transferable to four-year degree-granting institutions are eligible. All such institutions must be eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions.

Harris Community Gift Matching Program

The Community Gift Matching Program was established to encourage good citizenship on the part of Harris employees through support of charitable, cultural and civic programs that benefit their local communities. All organizations must be non-profit, 501(c)(3) institutions eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions or international charities with equivalent certification and have been approved by the Harris Foundation's Board of Trustees as eligible.

To apply for the Harris Community Gift Matching Program, an organization whose purpose is consistent with the objectives of the Harris Foundation must submit a proposal.
